The football academy of the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) is helping to organise a programme designed to bring together the country's best players aged between Under-15 and U18.
The HNS academy aims to assemble the most talented young footballers within these age ranges by overseeing a series of training camps led by instructors and youth-team coaches operating under the academy's aegis. The schedule for 2010 will begin with development camps in Umag, in the Istra region of Croatia.
The programme will also involve study groups from the football associations of Finland, Poland and the Republic of Ireland within the framework of the UEFA Study Group Scheme – with the focus on elite youth football. The youth development work of Croatia's most successful clubs will also be presented to the visiting associations, as will the ongoing information exchange between clubs and the HNS.
UEFA, meanwhile, has designated Croatia as host nation of an Elite round mini-tournament for the UEFA European U19 Championship. Croatia's U19s will take on their counterparts from Scotland, Belgium and Montenegro, with matches being played between 19 and 24 May. The group winner will progress to the U19 final tournament to be staged in France in July.
