Borussia Dortmund moved six points clear at the Bundesliga summit after a 1-0 win against title rivals FC Bayern München.
Robert Lewandowski's subtle backheel (77) proved decisive, with Bayern winger Arjen Robben wasting the chance to equalise from the penalty spot seven minutes later. Chances were at a premium for much of the match at the BVB Stadion Dortmund, but the game came to life 13 minutes from time, when Lewandowski cleverly diverted Kevin Grosskreutz's low drive beyond Manuel Neuer.
Bayern poured forward, hunting a leveller, and had the chance when Robben was brought down by Roman Weidenfeller. The goalkeeper atoned for his error, however, by easily saving the winger's tame spot kick. A misdirected header from Neven Subotić and a clipped shot from Lewandowski ensured both teams struck the crossbar in added time, but Dortmund hung on.
Elsewhere, third-placed FC Schalke 04 lost 4-1 at 1. FC Nürnberg and struggling Hamburger SV succumbed 4-0 to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Hannover 96 leapfrogged SV Werder Bremen into sixth and seventh respectively courtesy of wins against 1. FC Kaiserslauten and VfL Wolfsburg.
