Sami Hyypiä retained his Finnish player of the year title at the country's annual football gala in Helsinki.
The 37-year-old was recognised for a record-equalling ninth time by the Football Association of Finland (SPL-FBF) after impressing for his German club Bayer 04 Leverkusen. In the women's category, Sky Blue FC's Laura Österberg Kalmari also won for a second successive year and a fifth time overall, while Esbjerg fB goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky scooped the Under-21 award.
In separate Veikkausliiga awards voted for by the players, midfielder Medo was named the top player despite moving from HJK Helsinki to FK Partizan before the campaign concluded. TPS Turku striker Roope Riski, 21, carried off the young player gong after scoring 12 goals in 18 matches in what his first season in the top flight.
