Paris Saint-Germain FC restored their nine-point cushion at the top of Ligue 1 with a 1-0 success at Évian Thonon Gaillard FC, while the Derby du Rhône ended 1-1 to keep third-placed Olympique Lyonnais ahead of AS Saint-Étienne.
Olympique de Marseille saw off FC Lorient on Saturday to maintain their challenge, but PSG recorded their fifth consecutive league victory to keep themselves on track for a first title win since 1993/94. Javier Pastore made the difference five minutes after the restart, finding the net after being set up by Christophe Jallet on the edge of the area. The capital side lost Marco Verratti and David Beckham to late red cards, but they held on to take the points.
Earlier in the day, Lyon protected their two-point lead over local rivals Saint-Étienne at the Stade de Gerland. Kurt Zouma put the visitors ahead on 29 minutes as they looked to leapfrog their opponents into France's third and final UEFA Champions League spot, but Yoann Gourcuff hit only his second Ligue 1 goal this term to restore parity. Also on Sunday, sixth-placed OGC Nice overcame bottom club ES Troyes AC 3-1.
