Olympique de Marseille managed to postpone Paris Saint-Germain FC's title celebrations for another week with a 2-1 home win against SC Bastia.
André-Pierre Gignac was the hero for OM, scoring in each half (from two Mathieu Valbuena assists) to extend the home side's unbeaten run to nine matches. Gignac's only left-footed strike of the campaign was cancelled out quickly after half-time by a stunning solo goal from coveted prospect Florian Thauvin.
However, former Toulouse FC striker Gignac fired his 13th of the season to win the match, latching onto Valbuena's 40-metre pass to beat Mickaël Landreau with an angled shot from inside the box.
In the pick of the matches elsewhere, ES Troyes AC climbed off the bottom rung of the Ligue 1 ladder with a vital win against 18th-placed Évian Thonon Gaillard FC, courtesy of PSG loanee Jean-Christophe Bahebeck.
Sloan Privat ensured struggling FC Sochaux-Montbéliard earned an equally important 1-0 win against FC Lorient, while Stade Brestois 29 replaced Troyes at the foot of the table with defeat at holders Montpellier Hérault SC.
On Friday night, AS Saint-Étienne passed up the opportunity to move third in Ligue 1 as they played out a goalless draw at home to FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
