Podpaly bounces back

Sergei Podpaly, who recently lost his job with FC Gomel, is the new coach of FC Torpedo-SKA Minsk.

Sergei Podpaly, who recently lost his job with Belarussian champions FC Gomel, has been appointed coach of domestic rivals FC Torpedo-SKA Minsk.

Bashmakov fired
Torpedo-SKA have finished fourth in the Premier League for the past two seasons and were top of the table this season after eleven matches. However, two 1-0 defeats in a row then saw the club fall back to fourth and led to the sacking of 54-year-old coach Aleksandr Bashmakov.

Podpaly success
Podpaly had been in charge of Gomel for the past three seasons, leading the club to their first Belarus cup success in 2002 and to the league title for the first time last season.
