The new Swiss Nationalliga A season got under way this weekend and there was a surprise result in tonight's fixture as SR Delémont beat Servette FC.
Delémont were only promoted to the top flight this season as a replacement for one of three clubs that were demoted to the National B league because of financial problems. However, tonight they showed they will be more than capable of holding their own by beating Servette, who finished fourth last season, 2-0 at home.
Servette, who also reached the fourth round of the UEFA Cup last season before losing out to Spain's Valencia CF, were expected to open their season with a win but goals from Samuel Ojong after half an hour and Emanuele di Zenzo in the 52nd minute saw Delémont get off to the best possible start.
There were also wins on Saturday for Grasshopper-Club, their city rivals FC Zürich, Neuchâtel Xamax FC, BSC Young Boys and FC Basel.
