Olympique Lyonnais striker Bafétimbi Gomis is taking nothing for granted despite his side coming from behind to gain a useful lead over FC Rubin Kazan in their UEFA Champions League play-off.
The visitors enjoyed an ideal start when Vladimir Dyadyun struck from a third-minute corner, yet strikes from Gomis and Jimmy Briand either side of a Saba Kvirkvelia own goal has swung the tie in Lyon's favour ahead of next Wednesday's return. UEFA.com rounds up the reaction.
Bafétimbi Gomis, Lyon forward
We have an advantage but we're not through yet because anything can happen in the Champions League. Rubin have a good mentality, as well as being tough competitors. It'll be like a war over there so we'll need to make the most of our weapons. We posed them plenty of problems with our crossing and good team moves. It's not easy when you go behind after three minutes. We need to work on our defending at set-pieces; it was a problem last season too so we need to be more solid.
Jérémy Pied, Lyon forward
We recovered and scored three goals against a team that defends very well. It's a shame we messed up the great chance we had to score a fourth, but we still have a two-goal advantage. Bafétimbi was superb. He brings a lot to the team in attack. It's great for us he's carried his fine form from last season through the summer and I hope he carries on. We're scoring freely this season. We got three more tonight and could have scored more.
Maxime Gonalons, Lyon midfielder
We know they are a strong side away from home and we knew they'd come here and get men behind the ball. Overall we managed to control them quite well and we scored three goals. We'd seen DVDs of their previous games and it did feel like they attacked more than usual tonight. We did our best to take advantage of any space and created a lot of chances. We might have got a fourth but overall we negotiated the game well.
Bakary Koné, Lyon defender
We've got ourselves into a good position but we know the Russians will fight in the second leg. They have a system where everyone defends together. They operate with five defenders who are all very strong. But it's up to us to find the gaps. [My former club] Guingamp was like a family to me and I think I've found another family here. It hasn't been easy. I've had four days to adapt to life at Lyon but the guys have been really nice and I've settled well.
Vladimir Dyadyun, Rubin forward
Having scored the goal we eased off and gave away the initiative: We should not have done that. On top of this, we made a lot of mistakes at the back and allowed Lyon to create chances. Maybe we should have calmed things down rather than trying to pour forward in numbers at times.
