Goal glut continues for resurgent Iceland

San Marino 0-6 Iceland
Iceland continued their revival in Group 5 with yet another heavy win as they moved level with the Czech Republic at the summit.

Iceland continued their determined revival in 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 5 with yet another heavy win.

Impressive tally
Tomas Ingi Tomasson's side began their campaign by losing 2-0 at home to the Czech Republic, but they have bounced back with four consecutive successes to move level with the first-placed Czechs on points, having played one game more. They have registered an impressive 22 goals in their last four outings as well, having beaten San Marino 8-0 at home last month. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson got the ball rolling this time around, burying with his left foot on eight minutes after collecting an excellent pass from Bjarni Vidarsson.

Sigurdsson goals
Gylfi Thor Sigurdsson then hit the first of his two goals with quarter of an hour gone, dancing past three defenders before finding the net from 25 metres. His second effort came from much closer range just after the half-hour, by which time Vidarsson had converted a penalty, and substitute Alfred Finnbogason then rounded off the scoring with a right-footed strike on the hour-mark and a finish into an empty net after rounding goalkeeper Eros Gobbi with eight minutes to go.
