Belarus back on track

Belarus 4-2 Albania
Andrei Voronkov scored twice as Belarus bounced back from defeat in Scotland to move into a share of top spot in qualifying Group 10.

Andrei Voronkov scored twice as Belarus bounced back from Saturday's 1-0 loss in Scotland with a 4-2 home win over Albania that lifted them into a share of top spot in 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualfying Group 10.

Nekhaychik opener
Georgi Kondratiev's side had been undone by an added-time goal in Paisley and they acted quickly to get that defeat out of their system in Molodechno with three first-half goals. The start of the match was delayed for half an hour because of heavy snow and when it did get going the home side struck first, FC BATE Borisov's Pavel Nekhaychik bursting into the box then shooting powerfully home in the 25th minute.

Belarus press
Voronkov then added the second on 38 minutes following a fine pass from Nikita Bukatkin, before Maksim Skavysh made the most of a lapse in the Albanian defence three minutes later to put the result beyond doubt by half-time. Albania raised the tempo after the break, but were unable to make the most of their chances and Voronkov collected his second and his side's fourth with 18 minutes to go. Goals for the visitors from Ahmed Januzi (75) and Vilfor Hysa (78) soon after were not enough to change the course of the game as Belarus won for the third time in the section to move level with Austria and Scotland in first place on nine points. Albania are fourth with three points from five games.
