"We've played lots of good football in Israel and I think this French team has grown a great deal in this tournament. I've seen real development among the players, they've benefited a lot in terms of maturity, confidence and self-assurance on the pitch."

France team analysis

  • Comfortable when building up from the back.
  • Attacking runs from midfield allowed the central striker to drop deeper between the lines, when in possession.
  • Creative players happy to attack in 1v1 situations.
  • Used strong positional play and well-timed player movements to make good passing options when in possession.
  • Effective use of full-backs and good link-up play with wingers.
  • In attack, wide players advanced high up the field with one player dropping back into the space to cover.
  • Flexible in the structure of their play with a dynamic and highly technical approach in midfield.
  • Holding midfielders defended high to pressure the central midfielders of the opposing team. The striker and attacking midfielder played higher on the field and next to each other.
