"I told my players I'm really satisfied with how they have played at this tournament, the spirit they have shown. In two of the three games we met our potential. It has been a great experience and I'm sure me and the girls will take something from it for the future."

Norway team analysis

Norway team analysis

  • Started with a 1-4-4-2 formation using Karina Sævik as the dominant player in midfield.
  • Played with one target player in attack and a very skilled and mobile player operating around the forward.
  • Used an opportune style of play with a quick long ball and plenty of combination play.
  • The focus was often on the right hand-side of the pitch with physically strong players who were technically very good.
  • Tended to defend really high up the pitch with the intention of forcing the ball to be played forwards rather than winning it, as they had aerial power in defence, in order to minimise opponents' chances.
  • Central defenders – as one of two defensive units – remained in front of the penalty area, making Norway very tough to break through.
  • Displayed an unwavering spirit and a great, winning mentality through their matches.
  • Used three variations of corner kick.
